Such a tiny bunny can transform into a humanoid superhero
Hmm we have two beer barrels in our warehouse

Ifema, that day it wasn’t raining

Sometime we needed to work a little bit

A business trip but with some time to enjoy the city, its restaurants and to have a cold draft beer from Mahou (the most famous beer in Madrid).

Draculina enjoyed it very much and she wants to go there again.

The run of my life

Wanna know who is my father? just remember who was in New Zealand
in summer time while others enjoied the summer in the northern hemisphere.

UPDATED: My rotten spoiled child sabotaged my time. She added 10 minutes more!!! It was less than 1:30

You know that my daughter defied me saying that humans do not run and furthermore I was old and slow. Since then I have been training hard to make her swallow her words.

And Today Draculina, Ramiro and me stopped the watch at 1:29:04 in a Half Marathon.

I must admit that now I have the expert advice of other human racers who really are aware of my problem. (Mr. Bunny)

Today a Triathlon for breakfast.

[ENG] FB and Draculina went to Mar Bella Beach were people were swimming, cycling and running. Father bunny is still training for the Marathon and he has no plans to compete in a Tri event.

We were there just to take pictures and we took there our “beast” with quite good results.

Miffu and The Beast / also known as “El Pepino”

21097.5 meters – and some more stuff

Yes, I know this is not a runners’ blog or a sportman’s blog, but when i decided to bet about the athletics capabilities of my father I knew that sometimes things would go wrong and he will succeed.

So, I just let him to tell about his achievements. Bear in mind that he was really out from the last two kilometres and only me – from home with my friend Daikyn- calling Draculina to help him to finish are responsible for his time.

“Well I must reckon that Miffa is right, I only run in New Zealand
about 120 kilometres with extreme cold and great efforts to
breath normally, our paces and our kilometres, together with a
couple of kilograms that we earned during our “vacation “ were
telling us that the second half marathon will be a disaster.

The same track – two times – steady and hot

A devilish track with a downhill + uphill profile + high temperatures
made the track extremely demanding. We experienced some
problems in the second run about 17-19 kilometres, but finally
we managed to stop the watch at 1:37:10 with the last two
kilometres riding with Draculina attached to my right hands”

It’s a pity that for the first time I have been verbally abused
by a group of runners
that make funny words about my cargo pants
while the only reason to wear this outfit is to carry Draculina.
I can tell you that it’s an extra weight and uncomforting matter
that has nothing to be with any fancy or political thinking. I have
really felt very harassed but their words and at some points I was
at the point to talk back to them – of course in a much more
polite way-.

The Orange Cap Sect accepts a new member

Miffa is a member of The Supreme Council for The Bunny Attitude but as you might imagine the council is formed by many different bunnies that represents different parts of the world, different races, and of course who have different visions of the future bunny world.

As I have told to my daughter a lot of times one of the most widespread rabbit is the European Rabbit who has his origin in the Iberian Peninsula.

Anyways, she decided to become a Buddhist Bunny and to create her own sect inside it. As time passed by Draculina, Ookina and new members of the orange cap joined her and they have developed their own rules and culture.

Yesterday Draculina’s twin sister arrived from Hong Kong after a real nightmare finding her way from Madrid to Barcelona. She has been sleeping all the day long until 18:00 when Miffa, Ookina, Draculina and Miffu (the only no orange cap member accepted) were waiting to have tea.

The ceremony ended about 21:00 when Draculina’s twin sister has received her new nameDraculina J- and, after reading the letter 9j wrote, she was nominated as a new sect member.

Of course 9j is a member of the sect and the council. As Miffu, she is from Hong Kong and this is just enough to become a member if you pass the severe test and trials. You don’t need to wear that orange cap that – of course- denotes certain grade.

The graduation is a matter that it will be better explained by my daughter herself. In the pictures, please note the details that show the special character of this sect (ie: Miffa is wearing her band the other way out, with the golden colour outside)

Damn, Father Bunny blasted me!

Look his metro ticket and his non electronic pace calculator
- a nice move because the heart rate monitor wasn’t working today-
may be the secret to achive a good race. Our race # 819.
I have the feeling that he has been training secretly and using illegal tricks to beat our 45:00 barrier. After a hard last race – after a hard night party I organized to neutralize his training- that ended with him and my sister Draculina stopping the chrono at 0:45:05 but suffering as they were in the lungs of hell in the second half, I raised the bar and I asked for an under 44:00 minutes.

He trained with 35 Celsius past Friday and Sunday for 16 and 21 kilometres (he wants to do a half marathon in September).

As ever before the over train factor was important and we thought that he will broke due to an extreme treadmill exercise made in 0:43:48 with the second half running over 14 kph. Lot of ice, lot of complaints but lot of muscle gained in his quadriceps in two weeks. Damaged but not so much.

Last game of the season, The Eurogames – surely too early, too hot, but his last chance to win- a non profit event organized by the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation opened to everyone that promotes integration and non discrimination between gender and sexual orientation. An event with athletes from all over Europe that will raise the level of the previous races.

The race, only one leg, that’s nice! close to the beach nicer!

My father has to carry Draculina with him all the time inside his cargo pants pocket or in his hands. With almost 32 celsius a cotton cargo pant over your legs with you underground ticket, sunglasses, some coins, home keys and dextrose pills is an extra weight and an extra power heater that you should better avoid, but my little bunnies, rules are rules!!

7:20 alarm clock, 8.10 underground, 8.40 a lot of people who is going to run an people who is accredited as organization are in the same underground train.

The old man is getting nervous – a French couple asked him, an English guy asked him…where are we going to get our race number? – the beginning of the end ?

May be, normally you can get your number for the race the day after but in Eurogames 10k race you must present yourself one hour before.

From the underground exit he was forced to run about 1.5 km to arrive 10 minutes before.

Draculina on the beach, after winning their bet with me, I invited them to Paella

Hahaha , he has used some energies – I was laughing in my bed.

Start!

First kilometre: amazingly the GPS said FB he was doing 4:10 a km, but the 1st kilometre mark was at 1,35 kilometres. This was very annoying because he forced his pace a lot during the first 6 kilometres where – suddenly – the gps and km mark began to match. (Well, I run out of money to pay the signal crew)

After 5,80 km nirvana arrived to Draculina and FB, they began to pass people on a very steady pace- but some tiny hills were on the last 2 kilometre- unfortunately he trained his last 21 on a hill and he was able to pass more runners and to lost almost 10 seconds arguing with Draculina before using his last forces to sprint at 14.5 kph the last 300 metres.

Unfortunately me and Mother Bunny got lost but you can check his result here. He won with a 0:43:41 chrono. But still a 21,065 kms and a 42.195 kms are part of out bets.

Shake, shake, shake…shake, shake, shake….

Shake you up bunny, shake you up bunny.
Oh, I can, I can do well, very well

A slight mod to one of the old (and sometimes terrible) song that KC and that slightly over her weigh lady (Italian surname) try to sell to night hawkers addicted to TV shops. A 9 CD nightmare that you can discover here

Today the great day arrived and Father Bunny and Draculina will need to prove me that they can run faster and better than me.

I know my sister can defeat me in short distances with no effort but she is not good when the track is longer and not totally flat some love handles in your body can help you to sustain your effort. And to tell you the truth Father Bunny’s days of glory are something of the past and the only exercise that he really needs to do is signing checks to cover my expenses.

The event we chose it was Cursa del Corte Inglés, one of the largest running races over the world that achieved world record in 1994 with 109,457 athletes (still today holds The Guinness Record). This year around 50,000 people took part so quite a crowd ready to step on you.

The race starts and ends in Plaça Catalunya, eleven kilometers that are not as easy as you may think if this is your first race. Let me guide you in a VirtuaRabbit tour in which I will share my thoughts.

KM 0. This year runners with a timing chip are in a separate area a few meters in front the rest of participants. A good idea to avoid crowds and to allow official and real times match.

START. I passed throw the start line with FB and Draculina, we have only lost around 15 seconds but suddenly after 100 meters a big jam stopped us abruptly. People entering the race from both left and right sides are blocking me and my father while Draculina is able to find the right place in a fast zigzag between humans, cars and another urban elements.

KM 0.63. We turn left in Aragon street, still crowded but I manage to get rid off FB while trying to chase Draculina. My pace is not so good but sensations are. FB is surprisingly close to me and advancing with less effort that I expected.

KM 3.22. Still chasing my sister that is doing 3.45 minutes a kilometer. I decided to save energy because in about 500 meter the first slope is coming ( from 3.80 to 4.80 approximately you are heading up to the Olympic Stadium and the slope is quite a pain inside your athletic shoes

KM 3.80 Suddenly the race stopped. Even the fastest runners are slowing down. I expected Father Bunny to crash as many others (he has not been running hills during his training). Draculina is suffering and she has stopped to eat and drink some carrot juice. I passed her and I managed to arrive first to the first water station. Father bunny has reduced his pace from 4:30 to 5:20 and his pulse is 164. No good news for me I expected him trashed aside the route.

KM 4.80. I was running first, FB was at low pace and Draculina almost broken. I run down the hill for the next 200 meters but again a, this time bigger, slope was in front of me and the Olympic Stadium. This time I needed to reduce my pace considerably but FB – that has down the hill tried to reduce his bpm- was going uphill quite fast. Actually faster than Draculina that was out of breath and suffering when she joined father bunny in this point.

OLYMPIC STADIUM. Here it’s Miffa, yes! entering the track with the crowd waving the new Bunny hero. It was nice being there and having the chance to step on the same track than many professional athletes. Father Bunny and Draculina were not doing good inside. I decided to buy myself an ice cream and rest for a while. Anyways the race was quite easy for me.

KM 7.31 Draculina passed my like a rocket. At this part until Km 10 we descended Montjuich and she showed her great ability at a stunning pace of about 30 km/h. Father Bunny was doing around 15 km/h (He decided to forget about his knees for a while)

KM 9. I saw Father Bunny at the distance, He pushed hard downhill and therefore he was not keeping so much energy as he expected in those two last kilometers. Draculina stopped in Km 10.5 to chat with Mother Bunny. She did and impressive descend and was able to join the best runners. Unfortunately for her she waited for FB.

KM 10.5 Draculina stepped onto Father Bunny’s shoulders, he tried to run but his pulse went wild and reached 170. He still tried to win me but finally we did the same time.

Unfortunately for him I have won my age group and therefore our bet!

Citius, altius, fortius. Are the olympics tempting Miffa?

I don’t think so, I think she is jealous of Draculina and me sharing the unique feeling of running though Barcelona and inside The Olympic Stadium and therefore she convinced Ookina to run with her.

They tried to maintain it secretly but Miffa’s vanity forces her to ask for my camera and guess what I found.

She has even bought a yellowchip!!

Ookina will use NB 909 and Miffa custom built Sketchers

Finish line

My father was so busy trying to justify his failure to accomplish his challenge that he forgot to publish the picture of him and Draculina in the FINISH LINE.

I must admit that I was scared when I saw them running though the crowd. Miffo reported they passed under the 2.5 check point in position 8089 but they managed to pass over 1100 runners.

Finally he preferred the show with Draculina better than winning our challenge. Well, that was not a good choice…

We just tried it (really hard). Gone in 28 sec.

I remember than me and my running mates usually avoided this race because it used to be (and it already is) the most expensive and crowded 10km race held in Barcelona. This year more than 15.000 people signed (50 % more than 2007).

We did not get the under 50 strap and this forced us to start at the very end. Many people manage to get a better position but we arrived to the start just 15 minutes prior to the run starting time.

I thought that this will be around 3 minutes more to cross the starting line, but it was more than 5 minutes and lot of people to pass and to avoid during the first three kilometres.

I did not remember being running in such a slow moving crowd and this fact together with my severe worries about getting moderately injured a week before going to China made my pace erratic and nervous. I finally decided not to use my heart rate monitor to reduce my motivation and without references I must say that this is the most uncomfortable race I have run, with the first kilometre made at 8:40.

Finally Draculina waited for me at kilometre 9 and we entered together holding our hands up. This last gesture possibly ruined my attempt to end under 50 minutes (0:50:28) but who cares about 28 seconds.

PS: Miffo was taking pictures with MB but she reaaly wants to run the next one with FB
