When we visited Tsukiji fish market for the first time we wanted to have breakfast there, but long ques at the small restaurants and our poor knowledge of the Japanese language removed that idea from our mind.

But we’re so lucky as to have met our friends from Cafemiffy who took us for breakfast this Christmas. They took me and Father bunny to a very special restaurant in a rainy and misty day (much better than a sunny day for this experience).

A small restaurant, only a bar, and behind it two sushi master using their knifes and the best fish you can imagine and have.

The different flavours, the different textures, the atmosphere, the perfect rice, a nice Japanese tea, the colors…

If you have the opportunity to go there you’ll be spoiled forever.

In the past (check here) I visited the world´s biggest fish market – Tsukiji- and we managed to enter the red tunna fish auction where only the best tunna is exposed and inspected to professional buyers.

You have to got early and you must be there about 4 am if you want to enter the auction, besides now you have to register in advance or may be the will completely bann visitor from the auction.

So we were lucky on that rainy spring morning when we manage to visit the auction, but if you’re lazy you must paya a visit to the market too, great small restaurants, great fish, and above all – a lively atmosphere- that will surprise you a lot!

Daikon Horseradish and Japanese “sweet potatoes”
 wasabi “Wasabia japonica”
 More Wasabi “premium one”
 Blacksmith finishing a “small” knife
Some tunna traders who finished stocks
The market is closed during New Year’s eve, this was the last day

Today we have opened a really big parcel, full of gifts from our Cafemiffy friends. The postman left the parcel to our concierge and by mistake the parcel was sitting in his office for almost a week.

Japanese curry, excellent sake and a marvellous jar for serving and cooling the sake.

A million thanks, Cafemiffy!!!

The rainy season has started in Japan and of course today it’s raining. Miffo and Father Bunny went to Tsukiji market today. After an excellent dinner with Cafemiffy they were enough brave to get up at 4:00 pm an visit the market.

I love Japan, Do I have tell you that before?

Dan has arrived

After an exhilarating journey Dan has arrived from Japan. A noble Japanese family – The Cafemiffy clan– gave us the opportunity and the honours to train his body and soul for some time.

The induction was very formal. Miffa used her Samurai outfit and her sword while Miffo acted as the secretary of the council. Draculina and Draco were present too.

Dan swore loyalty to the Chan clan and Miffa – who overacted a little bit- nominated him as new knight of the clan.

Miffo and FB were too excited to cook sushi, so we ordered a nice Japanese meal from one of the best Japanese restaurants (The bill is still in FB’s mind). We had Sapporo beer and Sake and a nice headache today…

But What Doesn’t Kill You Only Makes You Stronger.

Miffo’s Sushi Bar

Miffo is a certified Japanese cooker. After one year in Tokyo (Japan) she was able to enter into Cafemiffy’s. They taught her a lot of basic techniques and some advanced ones. Miffo’s patience and dedication made her to achieve a great knowledge of basic Japanese cooking.

Today under Miffo’s strict supervision we made some Maki Sushi. (with the best ingredients you can expect – provided by Cafemiffy-)

Still some room to improve. But the overall experience has been superb.

Hey, a big present is waiting for you at the Post Office

This week has been a hard one in the country where I live, Spain. A severe transport strike hit all the country. Protesters claim against high fuel prices and things gone really wild with people severely injured and even worse.

We ran out of fuel in petrol stations and ran out of fresh food in supermarkets. Of course mail and courier services were suffering severe delays.

But this afternoon we received a phone call from the post office.

– Miffa, there’s a big parcel waiting for you

So I sent my father to pick up it immediately.

Great, our friends from Caffemiffy has sent us beautiful presents: a lot of Japanese food and ingredients to cook delicious dishes and to improve my father’s skills. Besides a superb device to make biscuits that we will test as soon as possible (Father Bunny makes cakes that look horrible but taste quite fair).

Thank you very much!!

PS: Father Bunny did not see the special Japanese beers, we have hidden them. 😉

And he thinks he can make makis…
I opened my Flickr Pro account some time ago and it’s one of the few e-services or e-whatever that I pay for.

Unlike our mother, for dad and me pictures are just fast small time pieces that we capture to store in our hard disk (ehemm, several hard disks). We use our small camera and we publish, post, store or delete as is. No further action, not even cropping or colour balance is applied.

May be we are lazy, may be we do not care. Anyways I have been looking for something new, something funny and something bunny.

And this is what I have found.

If someone can make these rolls, the improvements dad has made with Miffo teaching him are just nothing.

Thank god I have learnt that if you want to cook good Chinese you’d better hire a good Chinese cooker/chef.

Futomaki 太巻き

Futomaki 太巻き is a big thick roll usually vegetarian. Miffo is seriously cooking for us using the techniques she learnt from her Japanese family.

We are trying to learn some dishes from her but with irregular results. In the other hand Father Bunny is doing quite decent Baozi after our last visit to Hong Kong. May be he was not going to the gym at 6 o’clock while in Kowloon.

Eastern Holidays at home.

Past eastern we visited Japan for the first time and we discovered our favourite city Tokyo- this eastern in exchange we have had no vacations and we have been at home.

It had been really hard because we planned to go sailing two days but strong winds and heavy rain from the North could made it a very unpleasant experience.

Anyways we will go to Hong Kong in less than a month. Yes!!! We will fly directly this time from BCN to HKG (via CDG that tells u no one is perfect) and I will be able to take Miffo and some of my sisters to my hometown. That’s great.

I said that Tokyo is my favourite city, but home is home so I dying to come back to my Hotel. To celebrate it Miffo cooked “Soba” for us and her delicious Miso Soup.

Note from Father bunny: Miffa doesn’t admit it but she prefers Tokyo right now. 😉
